Director Jithin K. Jose has spoken across multiple interviews about the role Catalyst Managing Director Vivek Ramadevan played in the making of Kalamkaval.

When Jithin first considered Mammootty for the central character, he reached out to Vivek with his doubts. Vivek encouraged him to look at the idea differently, helping Jithin see the potential in the concept.

As the story and screenplay developed, Mammootty remained Jithin’s choice for the role. Unsure how to approach the actor, he once again turned to Vivek, through whom the film was eventually pitched to Mammootty.

From shaping the initial thought to connecting the project with its lead, Vivek’s involvement became an important part of the journey of Kalamkaval.
